Home Remedies for Boosting Hair Growth

Lots of girls dream of having long and healthy hair. Unfortunately, the ability of your hair to grow faster or slower is inherent. Some people are lucky, others are less fortunate in this respect. However, it is up to you to make the most of your body so that your hair grows as fast and look as healthy and beautiful as possible.

Even though some kinds of treatment provided by beauty salons appear to be effective, you may be getting a pig in a poke. Let alone widely advertised miracle working hair growth boosters. I would not even consider trying them if I were you. There is no such thing as a miracle working push button for fast hair growth. This job involves a lot of effort.

One to one-and-a-half centimetres per month is a reasonably good result. Two to two-and-a-half centimetres is perfect. This is what you should aim to achieve. Let us consider some of the most effective at-home methods of making your hair grow faster.

In this article, we are going to discuss the following issues:

  1. What internal and external factors affect your hair growth?
  2. Remedies that boost hair growth:

What Internal and External Factors Affect Your Hair Growth?

There are two major groups of remedies for stimulating the ability of your hair to grow faster. Some of them are to be taken internally, while others are meant for external use. They should be applied in combination to get the best result.

Inner Factors

Mental wellness. If you are depressed, stressed or suffer from chronical sleep deprivation, you can hardly expect your body to focus on the beauty of your hair. You should take it easy and relax more. Another important thing that will do you good is exercise, of course. It goes without saying that smoking and alcohol are incompatible with beautiful long hair.

Diet. All the nutrients essential for the hair and needed for metabolism and hair growth come from food. First and foremost, eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, seeds, nuts, green leafy veg, dairy products (but do not exceed half a litre a day), eggs and fish. Remember to consume olive or some other vegetable oil. It is essential that you drink sufficient water. Make sure that drinking water is always within reach.

Now that your diet provides you with all the nutrients that are necessary for your hair growth, let us consider the external factors which are equally important.

Outer Factors

Damaging factors of physical and chemical nature to which we expose our hair, such as dry blowing, flat ironing, chemical dying and perming, to mention a few. Heat treatments and application of chemical products result in brittle hair and split hair ends, which makes it impossible to grow long hair.

Exposure to the sun. Lengthy promenades under the baking sun are likely to dehydrate your hair and make it brittle and dull. As a result, your hair will take much longer to grow. Try to avoid sunlight at noon and wear a hat to protect your hair (and face).

Excessive use of unsuitable beauty products. You can damage your hair by using hair care products which do not suit your hair type. Give priority to natural products suitable for your hair type.

Effective Remedies that Boost Hair Growth

Aromatherapy is by far the most enjoyable method of hair treatment. If you are lucky to have natural rather than synthetic essential oil, your aromatherapy is bound to be successful.

However, you cannot expect to see the result overnight. The first effects of aromatherapy will be apparent after two or three months of regular treatment. It will take about half a year to fully transform your hair by making it strong and healthy.

The only thing you have to do is to use oil to massage your scalp. You should also add a couple of drops to the water that you use for rinsing your hair. Aromatherapy uses mostly stinging essential oils, because they stimulate blood circulation in the scalp and increase the supply of nutrients to hair follicles.

The most effective essential oils for this purpose are rosemary, lavender, Ilan Ilan, peppermint, calamus, eucalyptus, salvia, lemon, grapefruit, thyme, chamomile and tea tree.

Essential oils should be dissolved in base oil before use. Some of the most common base oils are almond, soy, grapeseed, wheat sprout, olive, sesame and burdock root oil. Sesame oil is more suitable for oily hair, while wheat sprout oil and almond oil should be used for dry and damaged hair. All the other oils are suitable for any kind of hair.

For hair growth boosting massage, heat up a few spoons of base oil and add 5-6 drops of some essential oil. If you would like to use several essential oils, add 2 drops of each. Massage warm oil gently into your scalp for about 10 minutes. Spread whatever oil is left over your hair, cover with a piece of plastic film and leave for about 30 minutes before shampooing. Do this treatment twice weekly.

There are a number of essential oil recipes that have proved to be quite effective for hair growth.

Aloe Vera Mask

You need:

  • Aloe Vera juice — 1 teaspoon
  • Vinegar — half a teaspoon
  • Rosemary oil — 10 drops

Leave the mask on for up to 30 minutes. This mixture will make your hair grow much faster.

Yolk Mask

This is a mask that will nourish and boost the growth of any type of hair.

You need:

  • one yolk
  • one teaspoon of honey
  • two tablespoons of olive oil (or any other vegetable oil)
  • 2 drops of rosemary essential oil

Put honey in a bowl and melt it by double boiling. Mix the honey with a yolk. Add vegetable oil and essential rosemary oil. Apply this mask three times weekly. You will see the result after a month.

Olive Oil Mask

A combination of olive oil and essential oils is very effective for accelerating the growth of dry hair.

You need:

  • 50 ml of olive oil or almond oil
  • 4 drops of jasmine oil

Mix up the oils and apply them on your hair. Leave the mask for about 60 minutes then shampoo your hair thoroughly. Let your hair dry up naturally, i.e. without dry blowing.

If you have oily hair, seborrhea or dandruff, you can add essential oils to alcoholic tinctures of marigold, nettle, mint, calamus, Eleutherococcus or equisetum and massage the remedy into the scalp before bed. Rosemary, basil and tea tree oils are the most suitable essential oils for this purpose.

You may add 5 — 7 drops of essential oil to shampoo immediately before use. Leave such oil-enriched shampoo on your hair for five minutes, then wash it off.

Onion for Hair Growth

There is no need to use pricey beauty products to make your hair grow fast. Modest onion is one of the components that will help you grow out beautiful long locks. Let us see how this stinging vegetable works.

Onion is rich in healthy nutrients and elements which are useful for your hair. Onion has excellent antibacterial properties, therefore, it heals the skin and removes dandruff. Because onion is high in zinc, silicone and vitamin C, it strengthens and revitalizes hair follicles and even prevents greying hair.

Onion-based masks are much more effective than widely advertised shampoos. Onion contains authentic keratin, a substance which is vital for healthy hair. Unlike commercial products, onion based masks are suitable for any type of hair. Onion masks should be applied regularly every other day. Take a course of 30-40 masks for a really stunning effect. To maintain the beauty of your hair after that, it will be enough to make one or two masks weekly.

Onion and Garlic Mask

Add 5 drops of rosemary essential oil to two spoons of burdock oil. Squeeze out the juice of a medium sized onion and a few cloves of garlic. Squeeze out the juice of an onion and mix it with one yolk, one teaspoon of honey, two drops of rosemary oil and two drops of lavender oil. Wash the mask off with shampoo after 30 minutes.

If the smell persists, add some vinegar to water and rinse your hair.

You can enhance the effect of this mask by using warm sour milk instead of water.

Scalp Massage for Hair Growth

Scalp massage will stimulate blood circulation through hair follicles and cause your hair to grow faster. This is a simple technique, which does not involve any special skills. It is not time-consuming either. However, it is essential that you do it regularly.

The easiest method of scalp massage is by using a brush made of natural materials, such as bristle, solid rubber or horn. Overall, you should make 50-100 strokes in different directions.

One session of massage should not last over 15 minutes. Self-massage includes rubbing, pressing and stroking your scalp. Use your palms for stroking, and fingertips — for rubbing and pressing.

Below is one of the popular self-massage methods.

  1. Bend your head forward.
  2. Start by massaging your neck then move upward.
  3. Give special attention to the top of your head, temples and the hairline. Use your fingertips to massage your scalp in circling movements.
  4. Massage your scalp for some 10 minutes then brush your hair.

Another technique requires you to start by gentle stroking of your brows and forehead. Continue by rubbing your temples in spiralling movements. Repeat three times. Finish by massaging your forehead and temples in circling movements.

As you can see, expensive cosmetic products are not at all essential for boosting your hair growth. If you want your hair to grow well, make use of organic hair masks, massage your scalp, eat healthy food and take it easy. Good luck in your efforts to achieve gorgeous hair!
